Julia Roat is a dedicated and compassionate therapist who has worked with children, parents and families since 1999 when she began her career in Applied Behaviour Analysis, working with children with autism, developmental delays and sensory processing disorders.  She also has several years' experience providing several models of child therapy, and consultation to families, schools and community, based on specific needs.

Julia has worked with families at many stages in life, pre- natal, post-partum, childhood, parenting, and on both sides of the adoption process. She is sensitive to the many ways a family is formed and the impacts on each member at different stages of life's journey. Julia’s approach is to playfully engage with each client at an individual level, aligning with the goals of the family and developing a treatment plan with a technique that best suits expressed needs. Working together is the first step in a trusting relationship  to help children and families be the best they can be, through evidenced based technique.

Julia has taken adoption competency training with the Adoption Council of Ontario to supplement her work in attachment. She has completed level 2 training through the Theraplay institute, holds several certificates in trauma intervention as a trauma practitioner, and is fully certified in level II Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, specializing in children and adolescents.

Julia is praised for her playful personality and her ability to easily connect with clients, young and old.
